In the oil extraction industry, the oil content of different raw materials has a direct impact on the oil pressing process and equipment selection. Raw materials with high oil content and those with low oil content encounter different problems in the pressing process and require targeted solutions.

High oil content feedstock: high oil yield but higher process requirements

Common high oil content ingredients include: peanuts, sesame, sunflower, and rapeseed, which can have an oil content of 40-55 per cent.

Difficulties:

The press chamber is easy to clog: the high oil content will cause the paste chamber when the heating is insufficient.

The oil is easy to stick to the screw: it affects the oil output efficiency after long-term operation.

High risk of frying: Improper temperature control may lead to overheating of raw materials and deterioration of oil.

Solutions:

It is recommended to use automatic temperature control screw oil press, which can precisely adjust the heating temperature to avoid frying paste.

Install pre-treatment equipment (such as a frying pan, dryer) to improve the dryness and fluidity of oil.

Clean the press chamber and screw regularly to prolong the life of the equipment.

Low oil content feedstock: less oil but more difficult to process

For example, soya beans, maize germ, cottonseed, and coconut pomace tend to have an oil content of between 10 and 25 per cent and are high in protein or fibre.

Difficulties:

Low oil yield: poor effect of direct pressing without pretreatment.

Raw material is hard or fibrous: high pressing resistance, easy to wear and tear equipment.

Slow oil output: low production efficiency and high energy consumption per unit.

Solutions:

Recommend to use hydraulic oil press or strong pressure type screw oil press to improve the pressing intensity.

Match with crusher and fryer to enhance the adaptability of pressing.

Match with the secondary pressing system to press the cake again after the first pressing to increase the comprehensive oil yield.

Choose the right equipment for the material
